Salaamun Alaykum Boys and Girls!
I hope you tried to memorize the first hadith we shared. If you couldn’t memorize it, I hope at least you are trying to say
before all your actions!
I have a new story and hadith for you for this month!
Hadith of the Month of Safar
Remember Me When You Drink Water
Imam Hussain (AS) told Bibi Zainab (AS) before he died to remind the people when they drink water to remember their thirst.
Grandfather’s Story of the Month
Remember Our Thirst
“Goooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaal!!” screamed Zahra from the top of her lungs as she scored the winning point of the match. Zahra was ecstatic! She loved playing soccer with Grandfather and Yaseer.
“Wow, that was some shot Zahra, good job! That game was wicked. We really played with all our hearts! I am sooooooooo thirsty!” Yaseer said as he tried to grasp his breath.
Grandfather who was also thirsty from the game, goes towards their picnic basket and takes out three water bottles. He gives one to each of the children.
Zahra looked at Grandfather and said, “Don’t worry Grandfather, there’s no way Shaytaan will be getting a sip of this water… I remember to say Bismillah hir Rahman nir Rahim! Haha Shaytaan!”
Zahra and Yaseer laughed hysterically as they opened their water bottles.
Zahra said “Bismillah hir Rahman nir Rahim” and began to drink the cool water.
Yaseer was about to drink but remembered that in the land of Kerbala, before Imam Hussain (AS) went to the battlefield, he told Bibi Zainab (AS) to tell the people when they drink water to remember the thirst of the Heroes of Kerbala. Yaseer wasn’t sure what that meant, so he asked Grandfather.
“Yaseer, may Allah SWT bless you for remembering Imam Hussain (AS)’s words. Yes, it is true that when we drink water we should remember Imam Hussain (AS). There is a special short dua-prayer that we should recite.

It means: “Blessings of Allah be on Imam Hussain (AS), his family and his friends. May Allah curse those who killed him and opposed him.” Grandfather lovingly explained.
Yaseer thanked Grandfather for teaching them the dua. They all repeated the dua after Grandfather then drank their water.
When they got home, Grandfather helped them write the dua on paper. They put a copy near the water jug and another on the table so that each time they drink water, they will remember Imam Hussain (AS).
Yaseer and Zahra are trying to memorize the dua. Do you want to try as well? You can print the dua and keep it near your water jug. InshaAllah together we can help each other memorize it!
